THE HISTORY OF NEW ZEALAND AIR VENTILATION.
Many people are unaware that the building code in New Zealand gives little or no attention to home ventilation. People all over the country are living in houses with a considerable amount of moisture, which can become a serious issue to both your property and your health.
People throughout New Zealand wake up in the morning to find condensation on windows, or are beginning to notice mould on walls, ceilings and under carpets. The old-fashioned way to remove mould and mildew has been to open windows and doors to increase natural airflow but unfortunately, this is neither practical nor safe due to poor air quality, issues of safety, and heat regulation in colder months.
HOME VENTILATION SYSTEMS ARE INTRODUCED TO NEW ZEALAND
With this knowledge, the first home ventilation system business was established 16 years ago to address the issues of home heating and air humidity. The idea was simple; transfer air from the roof cavity and blow it throughout the house, circulating warmer, drier air.
It not only worked in keeping homes dry, but because the air temperature in the roof cavity is much warmer than in the home, it provided affordable heating, making the installation of a HVS system a very practical and cost-effective solution.
As the HVS industry expanded, air filtration became a factor, and was introduced by some New Zealand companies. Many HVS systems initially used paper filter bags, similar to those found in vacuum cleaners. However, research later emerged to show that more effective forms of filtration were available.
PUREAIR INTRODUCES SUPERIOR FILTRATION TO OPTIMISE AIR PURIFICATION & TO HELP ASTHMATICS AND ALLERGY SUFFERERS
Homes in New Zealand that are within 500 meters of a main highway are extremely vulnerable to the hazards of poor air quality, especially as it relates to peoples’ respiratory tracts. In fact, Auckland has the highest rates of child asthma in the world.
For this reason, we knew that New Zealand needed a quality filtration system that could reliably purify and filter air to a safe level. When developing the PureAir HVS , we opted to use a filter manufactured by a leading European company (AFPRO) whose filters are all rated under ASHRAE , the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. We selected a filter with a F8 rating, and to the best of our knowledge, we are the only home ventilation company in New Zealand to utilise this superior standard filter.
